A dragon shifter stirs and wakens deep in the Scottish Highlands. His cave is the same and his hoard intact, yet something’s badly amiss. Lachlan ventures above ground—and wishes he hadn’t. His castle is gone, replaced by ungainly row houses. Men aren’t wearing plaids, and women scarcely wear anything at all, particularly the woman who accosts him with unseemly banter. What manner of wench is she to dress so provocatively?

In Inverness for a year on a psychiatry fellowship, Dr. Maggie Hibbins watches an oddly dressed man pick his way out of a thicket. He looks so lost—and so unbelievably, knock-out gorgeous—she takes a chance and stands him a meal. Lachlan’s shock when he picks up a local newspaper is so palpable, Maggie jumps in with both feet.

The hard-to-accept truth bashes gaping holes in her equilibrium. He looks odd, sounds odd, acts odd because he’s a refugee from another era. Born of powerful witches, Maggie runs headlong into the myth and magic that are her birthright.

To Love A Highland Dragon Highland Fantasy Romance Dragon Lore Book 2 edition by Ann Gimpel Literature Fiction eBooks

Much, much better than first sequel. Story flows smoothly, there's much more depth to characters, dialogues make sense. There are some things I could have lived without that other readers mentioned (constant erection and/or state of arousal on both ends regardless of situation, unnecessary lewd comments on said state of arousal from almost all supporting characters etc) but it was not so distracting and annoying as in the first book. Also, why on earth would someone compare this series to Outlender is beyond me. Time travel and Highlands are the only common points. Even that is a stretch. This book was solid and it was good enough read. However, it is not comparable with Outlander in any way or form. Not by a long shot. Sorry, but there it is, as frankly as can be. That said, there is a potential for development of equally magnificent world, albeit a different one, and I will continue with a series and give this author much more attention then I was willing a day ago.

To Love A Highland Dragon Highland Fantasy Romance Dragon Lore Book 2 edition by Ann Gimpel Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

This is a great book that is technically paranormal but feels like a fantasy read too. One thing I liked was that there was much more romance than sex. The two are thinking sexy thoughts and dying to get at each other but so much action and adventure is happening that they (and the reader) are frustrated again and again (in a good way). Lachlan was a total hottie and completely captivated the heroine and me! Maggie is a strong character who, while sometimes really afraid, pushes through and takes things as they come with a brave, gutsy attitude. The high drama of fighting the dark sorcery of Rhurkan and the machinations of the Celtic gods was gripping. I like the system(s) of magic and the idea of the mage and dragon fusion. This book has got it all and was fast paced enough to keep me riveted. A warning though, the story doesn't end in this book. We get to a good jumping off point but there are several more books to go (which frustrated me because I didn't realize it until the end of the book). I can't wait to read the next one!
This series has become an epic journey through time. To Love a Highland Dragon is a phenomenal paranormal romance.

This is the actual first book within this series. Lochlan and Maggie have found love despite the evil that keeps trying to tear them apart. This story takes us on a journey through time, bringing magic and mayhem along the ride. The Celts are continuing to piss me off, just like in the prequel. If they would just get off their high horses and police their own, the world would be much better off.

I wasn't sure how this series was going to go; a new couple with every book or staying with the same from book one. I am happy to say it is the latter and we will get more of Lochlan and Maggie's story within the next book. There is a sneak peak at the end, and I snooped before writing this review. I am very excited to see where Ann Gimpel will take this seires. She is a talented author with an obvious love of the Highlands and mythology. Her love shines through her books and is a delight to experience. I enjoyed getting to know her characters throughout this fascinating book and look forward to finding out the next leg of their journey.

Keep Writing

This book is a paranormal romance and does have descriptive, passionate scenes.
Truly enjoyed this read as it held my interest even when my died on me so that it took some time before I could figure a way to recapture the story. Who wouldn't be frustrated when you've got double your pleasure in a mage and a dragon who are one. Loved the opening where Kheladin/Lachlan wake only to find their world had changed dramatically. Being locked away was only the opener for out dynamic duo....even the magic had virtually disappeared. However the bad guys were still around to put Kheladin/Lachlan back in the box or better yet destroy him completely. But we must not forget our entriped Maggie. Here is someone who had an opportunity to chose a job in the states but was drawn to Scotland instead. She is the one to find Lachlan, but while trying to show him the ropes she is called away on an emergency to the hospital.

Here you have even Celtic Gods who jump into the mix. Let us not forget the Morgana. She was everything evil in most capacities I've read of her. Talk about making a pact with the Devil for the power hungry crow. Toss in witches and more bad dragons and you have a page turner story that keeps you reading to the final page and leaves you wanting more.
A shifter dragon has been under a sleeping curse for nearly 300 years, needless to say his reaction to his castle being gone, cars zooming by, pollution, women who he thinks are dressed like harlots, cell phones and OMG planes, well it's a little overwhelming. Thank goodness the person who first runs into him, takes it all in stride when she sees a gorgeous, but rather strangely dressed, slightly smelly and apparently has a bit of a mental problem, man show up seemingly from the bushes where she's walking by. The questions here is why are they not running in opposite directions, but instead seem to be drawn to each other. Although they seem to like each other physically, they both are leery but are willing to listen to each others stories. They discover they each have not only secrets but powers and they must now work together to stay alive from the evil that is still trying to destroy him. Along the way they meet fascinating people, both family and friends, whose help they'll need. Meanwhile the feelings they have for each other grow and they learn that not even hundreds of years can keep them apart. This is a great love story, filled with funny moments that just happens to involve dragons, witches, both good and bad ones, funny and oh so serious ones. If you read the first book in the series, you'll run into some of the characters in this story. It may seem like I've given a lot of spoilers but I've just given the highlights; you'll have to read to get the full exciting, funny, and so sensual story moments that happen in between my lines. I highly recommend this story to all who love not only highlanders, but dragons, witches, comical scenarios and beautiful, romantic love.
