I have several of Kelly's books - and they're all really good. This booklet is great for someone who is considering a career as a writer but her other books are far more helpful.Product details

Dollars and Deadlines' Guide to Selling your First Article edition by Kelly JamesEnger Reference eBooks Reviews
As a new freelancer, I've scoured the internet, book stores and my local library in search of credible insight into how to market and sell my writing ideas to the national magazine marketplace. This inexpensive guide totally surprassed my expectations. Kelly James-Enger's work has appeared in numerous national publicaitons and she lays out precisely how to sell your first article (and thensome) succinctly, with the straight forward step by step action plan that has resulted in her six figure success as a freelance writer. No detail is left out. The e-book not only contains sample queries, but she also goes into the nuts and bolts "how to" of setting yourself apart as a new freelancer. Reading other books on the subject of freelancing often left me feeling inspired that I too can sell my work, but this was the ONLY book I have found that is written as an actual road map detailing the exact formula for getting an article sold from conception to payment. It was also short and readable---it took me at most an hour to read the enitre book---and I walked away able to put the strategies to work instantly with no overhead, supplies, or further education (besides the advice in this book) to get started. I honestly feel that if a writer has both solid ideas and writing skills, he or she can succeed as a freelancer after reading this very short, completely invaluable guide. The best money I spent in my journey to selling my first article. Thanks Kelly James-Enger!
This was a much shorter read than anticipated, but the content was incredibly useful for a novice in submitting articles. If you're brand new to this sort of writing than this is a perfect starting place.
